Duane A. "Dewey" Durtschi

FALL RIVER – Duane Alan "Dewey" Durtschi, age 66, passed away with his loving family by his side on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at the Columbus Community Hospital, after a brief battle with lung cancer.

He was born October 27, 1946 in Madison, Wisconsin to Walter and Marion (Mueller) Durtschi. His childhood was spent in Mt. Horeb, Wisconsin where he graduated in 1964. He was married to his high school sweetheart, Linda Wirth on September 25, 1965 at the Mt. Horeb United Methodist Church, spending their life together hand-in-hand ready to celebrate their 48thwedding anniversary together.

After high school and marriage, Duane attended Madison Area Technical School for Accounting. Duane and Linda later moved to Oregon, Wisconsin where they lived for many years and welcomed three children: Brenda, Michele, and Dan. While in Oregon, they purchased the milk route that he ran for 13 years. Moving to Fall River in 1978, Duane was a very active member of the community as a member of the Fall River Village Board for ten years. Duane and Linda owned and operated the Resort Bowling Center from 1978-1991, later going into insurance sales. As an active member of Faith Lutheran Church in Columbus, Duane was superintendant and taught Sunday School. Duane had many passions, including bowling with family and friends, playing games and cards.

He was an avid fan of UW-Badgers and the Green Bay Packers, and loved to watch the Fall River basketball team and could always be heard cheering them on from the sidelines. But most importantly spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren, is what made him happiest. Duane touched everyone that he met in his life and will be deeply missed by family and friends.

Duane is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Linda of Fall River; one daughter, Michele (Brian) Dauman of Columbus; grandson Jordan (girlfriend, Hannah Venden); granddaughter Kelsey; one son Dan (Alicia) Durtschi of Cambria; granddaughters Stella and Scarlett; grandson Jayce Pavloski (girlfriend, Stacey Mueller); his father, Walter Durtschi of Mt. Horeb; two brothers, Brian (Catherine) Durtschi of Mt. Horeb, and AJ (Doris) Durtschi of California. He was preceded in death by his daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Robert Pavloski; his mother, Marion; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Walter and Pearl Wirth.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at FAITH LUTHERAN CHURCH, 120 Faith Drive, Columbus, WI 53925 with visitation beginning at 9 A.M. Sandra Schieble will officiate. Interment will be in the Fall River Cemetery, Fall River.
