BLANCHARDVILLE/MADISON-Dorothy A. Johnson, age 88, of Madison, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012, surrounded by family. She was born on Jan. 29, 1924, in Blanchardville, the daughter of Ben and Alma (Emberson) Hermanson. She married Lyle O. Johnson on May 17, 1947, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Madison. Dorothy grew up on a farm in Blanchardville. She was proud of her Norwegian heritage. Dorothy enjoyed growing her vegetable garden and reading. She cherished her visits from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Denise (Keith) Thousand of Madison; son, Larry (Debra) Johnson of Poynette; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Carolyn (Ken) Poulsen; and brother, Richard Hermanson. She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter, Cheryl Pecosky; sister, Eleanor Jung; and brother, Otis Hermanson.
Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012, with the Rev. Bernt Tweit presiding. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday.
