Doris E. Perkins, age 94, of Dodgeville, passed away on Thursday, July 24, 2014 at Upland Hills Nursing & Rehabilitation after a brief illness.
Doris was born on March 18, 1920 in Wyoming Township to David and Anna (Johnson) Peterson. She married Lyle E. Perkins on October 17, 1945. Their son, Richard and Cleo (James) Perkins lives in Fruita, CO. Doris worked at the Royal Blue Grocery Store before and for a short time after she was married to Lyle. She then worked side by side with her husband and later her son on the farm on Highway 23 North.
Doris also worked at the Nelson Jewelry Store for many years, sometime after Lyle’s death on December 10, 1988, Dick and Cleo moved to Colorado, Doris sold the farm to a family member and moved into the City of Dodgeville. She then worked in Housekeeping at Lands’ End until her retirement. Doris moved to Fruita, CO for four years, missing Wisconsin and her retired siblings, she returned to Dodgeville in 2005.
Doris is survived by her son, Dick (Cleo) Perkins; a sister, Ella Redal; sisters-in-law, Marion Peterson; Dorothy Peterson; Arlene Peterson and Arlene Perkins; a brother-in-law, Earling Jacobson and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents; parents-in-law, Elmer and Ida Perkins; sisters, Della (Willis) Louie; Esther (Fred) Griffy; Myrtle (Soren) Jacobson; Gladys (Fred) Dresser; Alice (Mac) MacPherson; Percival (Gladys) Peterson; Vivian (Leo) Gilbertson; Leona (Robert) Symons; Violet (Lyman) Goth and Marie Jacobson and brothers, Percival (Gladys) Peterson; Grant, Marvin and Curtis Peterson.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 P.M. Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at Grace Lutheran Church, 1105 N. Bequette St, Dodgeville. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday after 11:30 A.M. Burial will be in East Side Cemetery followed by a luncheon at Grace Lutheran Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Grace Lutheran Church Building Fund or the charity of your choice.
