Donald Gene "Jug" Jessup

POYNETTE-Donald Gene "Jug" Jessup, age 86, from Poynette, Wisconsin, passed away at Divine Savior Medical Center in Portage, Wisconsin on Sunday,

December 8, 2013. Don was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on September 4, 1927, son of the late Wayne William and Edna (Grandjenette) Jessup.

Don resided in Hales Corners for many years before moving to Poynette to live on the family farm where he spent summers as a young boy.

Don served his country in the US Navy during World War II.

Don was active in the Knights of Columbus for most of his adult life. Don was a charter member of the Trinity Council #4580. He was Grand Knight of Trinity Council serving from 1961 – 1962 and 1988 – 1989. Don was a Charter member of the Sacred Heart Fourth Degree Assembly 3316 located at the Sacred Heart School of Theology. Don also served for many years as the conferring officer of the Milwaukee Knights of Columbus third degree staff and traveled throughout the state in this capacity.

Don enjoyed spending time with his family. Don had a special bond with his special needs daughter Linda (Dad nicknamed her Linda Lou). Don loved gardening, spending time outdoors, hunting, the Wisconsin Badgers and the Green Bay Packers. Don always seemed to find things to tinker with. Don was active in Indian lore.

Don is survived by his wife Elizabeth (Denk) Jessup of Poynette who he married on July 23, 1949 in Cudahy, Wisconsin. Elizabeth was the love of his life and recently celebrated 65 years of marriage. Loving father to his children , Linda Jessup, Michael (Stephanie) Jessup, Patrick (Paula) Jessup, Susan Jessup, Dona Jessup (Gary Curran) nee Geracie Curran, Jacqueline (Jessup) Prissel and Robert (Jennifer) Jessup; grandchildren, Nicholas (Sara) Jessup, Alicia (Nate) Zondag, Wesley, Toni, Brandon, Savannah, Tara and KC; great grandchildren, Jayden, Baylie, Helena and Sean; Don's brothers and sisters, Wayne (Janet) Jessup, Patrick Jessup, Sandy Kriefski and John (Judy) Jessup. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Carol Hardenbrook.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at BLESSED TRINITY PARISH, ST. PATRICK'S CHURCH, 521 Fair St., Lodi, at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 14, 2013, with Rev. Fr. Chad M. Droessler officiating. Friends and family are invited to HAMRE GUNDERSON FUNERAL HOME, 157 S. Main Street, Lodi, immediately following the service for time of fellowship and refreshments.

In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Southeastern United Cerebral Palsy Association (in honor of Linda).
