MADISON-Donald E. Courtier, age 85, of Madison, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013.

He was born on Jan. 23, 1928, in Stoughton, the son of Erle and Ethel (Sweet) Courtier. Donald was united in marriage to Carol Lang on Jan. 10, 1951, in Madison. He retired from Oscar Mayer after 37 ½ years. Donald volunteered with 2nd Harvest for 13 years. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, gardening, and camping. Donald also enjoyed going to Cottage Cafe for breakfast.

Donald is survived by his wife, Carol of Madison; children, Donna (James) Schlise of Charlestown, Ind., Diane (David) Cutler of Madison, David (Julie) Courtier of Sun Prairie, and Duane (Karen) Courtier of Madison; 15 grandchildren and spouses; 25 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brother, Rodney Courtier of Evansville; his pet dog, Sarah; and many relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; son Dennis Courtier in 2000; daughter-in-law, Mary Ellen Courtier in 2010; great-granddaughter, Heather; sisters, Nancy Miller and Lois Courtier; and sister-in-law, Ann Courtier.

Funeral services for Donald will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, at Noon on Friday, Dec. 13, 2013. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home on Friday.
