Delva B. Harris-Anderson went to be with the Lord on July 7, 2014. Delva was born on Dec. 11, 1919, the daughter of Merle and Mabel (Thorison) Christianson of Edmund. She is the older sister of Charles Christianson. Delva went to Mt. Hope School and graduated from Cobb High School in 1937. As a young women, she attended Madison Business College. She married Gerald Harris on September 10, 1938 and the couple farmed in the Bloomfield area for 30 years. Gerald preceded her in death on February 27, 1993. On December 26, 1998, Delva married Homer Anderson, a longtime friend and the couple lived south of Dodgeville. Delva, loving wife and mother worked hard on the farm, raising her children, caring for her in-laws, serving at Grace Lutheran Church and supporting or participating in Bloomfield events and get-togethers with neighbors. Later Delva enjoyed some part time jobs at Leones, Just Lorraines, Pizza Hut, and Culvers. She was a respected and committed volunteer at Upland Hills. She was once honored as the Iowa County Volunteer of the Year. Delva valued this time to meet new people, perform her job duties in a satisfactory manner, and develop some very special relationships. Delva was also a member of P.E.O. and Eastern Star. She was also a member of the Grace Lutheran Women’s church circle. The entire family participated in 4-H, and Delva and Gerald hosted agriculture events. Delva, our mother, was devoted to caring and doing for her family and others. She enjoyed her domestic duties of baking, gardening, sewing, and quilting. Her grandchildren will always remember delicious cookies and apple pie. Mother is remembered for her pasty, lutefisk, lefse, and tea biscuits. She enjoyed moments of travel to Europe with family several times. Being of strong Norwegian heritage she treasured and valued those traditions. She was a strong support to her children and will be greatly missed. Anyone that knew her felt valued and loved.
