Delbert Leland Peterson, age 89 of rural Hollandale-Barneveld died on Thursday evening, April 3, 2014 at the Upland Hills Nursing & Rehab Center in Dodgeville.
He was born on June 12, 1924 in Moscow Township, Iowa County, Wisconsin to Bernhardt Henry and Anna Christine (Johnsrud) Peterson. Delbert attended the Adamsville school through the 8th grade and then went into farming with his dad. He farmed his entire life on the Peterson homestead family farm in rural Barneveld. On October 9, 1947 Delbert married the love of his life Marcia Colleen Erickson at York Memorial Lutheran Church in rural Blanchardville.
Delbert is survived by his wife, Marcia Peterson; two sons, Leland (Carol) Peterson of Hollandale, and Todd Peterson of rural Barneveld; daughters, Vicki McCarville (Jon Cox) of Mineral Point, Juanita (Richard) Hittesdorf of Madison, and Debi (Jim) Sainsbury of Cobb; 9 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; his brother, Amos (Marie) Peterson of Blanchardville; his sister, Florence Weise Davidson of DeForest; and a sister-in-law, Grace Peterson of Mount Horeb. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son Lynn Carlyle Peterson; and 9 siblings, Percy, Raymond, Darvin, Lloyd, Verda, Alta, Bernice, Maynard and Bernard.
A visitation for Delbert will be held on Sunday, April 6, 2014 from 3:00 until 7:00 PM at the Perry Lutheran Church (1057 Highway 78, rural Mount Horeb) in Daleyville, Wisconsin, and Monday from 12:00 noon until the time of service at the Church. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, April 7, 2014 at the church. Rev. Kelli Fisher of the church will officiate. Burial will be in the Perry Lutheran Church cemetery.
