MADISON- Daniel “Dan” Eater, age 58, of Madison, passed away from MSA (Multiple Systems Atrophy) on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013, at his home surrounded by his family and friends.
He was born on June 5, 1955, in La Crosse, the son of Lloyd and Mary Eater. Dan married Sandy Witkowski on June 18, 1983, in Oregon, WI. He was an avid reader and writer, having published science fiction and fantasy stories under the pen name Dan Dysan. He made jewelry, swords, metal work and other craft work. Dan loved gardening, model railroads, hunting and the world at large. He also enjoyed animation, movies, cats, anthropology and history. Dan was never afraid to tackle home repair projects and made both small and large improvements to every room in his and Sandy’s home. Dan even tackled an entire bathroom remodel, complete with plumbing and electrical work. He dug a pond outside their home to fill with goldfish and koi. To help with the purchase of Sandra and Dan’s first home; Dan reclaimed abandoned bicycles, repaired them and re-sold them. He was an intelligent man with many talents and lifelong friends and a killer Trivial Pursuit player
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Sandy; mother, Mary (Gordon) Sanford; sister, Rebecca (Jeffrey) Rydbom; and nephews, Zachary (Lindsay) Rydbom, Nicholas Berg and Colin (Diane) Danley. Dan was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd.
Funeral services will take place at NATURAL PATH SANCTUARY AT THE FARLEY CENTER,2299 Spring Rose Road, Verona, at 1 p.m., on Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013. Please dress appropriately for walking to an outdoor service in a nature preserve and bring pictures.
