Conrad Albert Oleston
Conrad Albert Oleston, age 89, passed away peacefully on Monday, Oct. 28, 2013, at Rock Haven. He was born on Feb. 10, 1924, the son of Albert and Feena (Keena) Oleston, in Adams Friendship, WI. He graduated from Darien High School and then enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving in France and Germany during World War II. Conrad married Vernice O'Leary on Oct. 4, 1947, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Janesville. In his earlier days, Conrad had a television repair business along with being employed by General Motors. He retired from GM after 35 years. He served on the board of directors of Blackhawk Community Credit Union for many years. He was proud of his accomplishment of building two homes for his family in Janesville. Over the years, Dad/Grandpa was always available to help with any and all remodeling projects. He was very talented in woodworking and sold his handiwork at arts and crafts fairs. He was a long time member of St. William Catholic Church.
Conrad is survived by his 4 children: Jerry (Gloria) Oleston of Janesville, Ron (Alaina) Oleston of San Diego, CA, Linda (Mike) Huber of Janesville and Mary Ann (Mike) Brunhoefer of Janesville; 8 grandchildren: Ryan Oleston, Carrie Oleston, Marissa Grooms, Michael Oleston, Shawn Oleston, Matthew Husen, Lauren Husen and Kyle Grangaard; 5 step grandchildren: Jeremy Huber, Nikki Huber, Jeremy Brunhoefer, Adrienne Brunhoefer and Annalise Stark; 9 great grandchildren; a brother, Don Oleston; 2 sisters, Joyce Ritchey and Joan Hoffman; 2 brothers-in-law, Richard O'Leary and Harry J. O'Leary; 1 sister-in-law, Agnes Brewer; and a very special friend, June Engen. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Vernice in 1998; 5 siblings: Marge (Stanley) Jacobson, Robert (Joyce) Oleston, James Oleston, Dale (Marion) Oleston and Ralph Oleston; in-laws, Jim and Mary O'Leary, Margie and Jack Connors, Charles O'Leary, Ralyn Brewer, Betty and Malcolm Cullen and Tom and Colleen O'Leary.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013, at ST. WILLIAM CATHOLIC CHURCH with Rev. John Auby officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY. Memorials may be made to St. William Catholic Church.
