FITCHBURG-Colleen B. Viviani, age 87, of Fitchburg, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2017, at home surrounded by her family and friends.
She was born on Sept, 27, 1929, in Madison, the daughter of Frank and Alma (Piazza) Stassi. Colleen graduated from Madison Central High School in 1948. She married Richard Viviani on June 10, 1950, in Madison.
Colleen was owner and operator of Corner Liquor Mart and Viviani's Deli and Catering and a volunteer at the Fitchburg Senior Center. She enjoyed gardening, “Friday Fish Fries” with Teri, afternoon get togethers by the pool with her friends, Fran Tierney and Christy and Tom Gamble, and entertaining her family and friends.
Colleen is survived by daughter, Lynne (Frank) Smith; son, Rick Viviani; granddaughter, Kara Viviani; two grandsons, Rick (Nicole) Viviani Jr. and Joseph (Amanda) Viviani; three great-grandchildren, Matthew, Harrison and Luca Viviani; brother-in-law, Dorn Benzschawel; and many other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard L. Viviani; parents; two brothers, Anthony (Trudy) Stassi, and Sam (Audrey) Stassi; and sister-in-law, Delores Benzschawel.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at GOOD SHEPHERD CATHOLIC PARISH AT THE ST. JAMES CHURCH, 1128 St. James Ct, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Saturday Sept. 16, 2017, with Monsignor Thomas Baxter presiding. Entombment will be held at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 am until the time of the Mass on Saturday.
