Clifford F. Olthafer, 91, of Platteville, died on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at his home. Memorial services will be 1:00 p.m. Sunday, March 30, 2014 at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville. Rev. Jeff Pedersen will officiate. Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery, Platteville. Friends may call from 11:30 a.m. until the time of service on Sunday. Clifford was born on September 9, 1922 in Platteville, the son of George and Dorothy (Goke) Olthafer. He was united in marriage to Eleanor Butson on January 12, 1944 at the Belmont Lutheran Parsonage in a double ceremony with Bill and Betty Baker. Clifford farmed his whole life and loved it, when he wasn't working on his farm he would be helping others. He enjoyed working with all the animals and especially riding horses. He also worked for Consumer Co-Op around the mid 60's delivering fuel oil. He also served on the Platteville town board as supervisor for 8 years. Clifford enjoyed bowling, where he bowled on a Thursday night league. Also, mowing the lawn on his cub cadet, and especially liked meeting the boys for coffee at Ed's Café. He is survived by his daughter, Mary Ann (Richard) Petrak of Dodgeville, WI; brother, Richard (Donna) Olthafer of Platteville; step-grandchildren, CPO Thomas (Melissa) Petrak and their children Ashley and Kaelynn; and Rebecca Davis and her son Kyle; sisters-in-law, Jeanette (Donnie) Bevan and Edith Olthafer; nieces and nephews, George W. (Sue) Olthafer, Marti (Tom) Kastner, Tom (Sherri) Olthafer, Linda (Paul) McDermott, Joe (Sandy) Olthafer, Laura (Duane) Burns, Melissa Burbach, John Olthafer, Roberta (Keith) Glasson, Justin Olthafer, Larry (Sheryl) Butson, Dennis (Cheryl) Butson, David (Joyce) Bevan, Jeff (Peggy) Bevan, and Sue (Dave) Hanson, Dennis (Mary) Gruenwald, Douglas Gruenwald. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Eleanor, brother, George; sister, Katherine; and brother-in-law, Kenneth (Edith) Butson.
