Charles T. Sanford, age 91, of Janesville, died on Friday, Oct. 4, 2013, at Rock Haven Nursing Home. He was born in Oak Park, IL, on April 28, 1922, the son of William and Geraldine (Scott) Sanford. He graduated from Elmhurst High School, and served in the U.S. Army during WWII, stationed in France and Belgium in the European Theatre.
Charles married Josephine Adamany in Santa Fe, NM, on April 25, 1959, and she preceded him in death on Nov. 22, 1984. He retired from General Motors, and was a member of All Saints Anglican Catholic Church. He was a member of the Elks Club, founder and past president of the Rock County Builders Association, the American Legion, life member of the VFW Post 1621, Republican Party, and Chairman and past Rock County Board Member. He owned Rock Valley Bike Rack, and was well known for riding the antique high wheel bicycle in the parades.
Charles is survived by his daughter, Dena Ann Sanford of Loves Park, IL; special friend, Ruth; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Josephine; brother, William D. Sanford; and sister, Louise Beyer.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013, at ALL SAINTS ANGLICAN CATHOLIC CHURCH, 169 S. Academy St., Janesville, with The Ven. Barry A. Lewis, PO/OSB officiating Graveside service will be private. A visitation will be held on Monday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY. Lasting memorials may be made to All Saints Anglican Catholic Church.
