MADISON – Charles “Doug” Harry Douglas, age 79, passed away on Sunday, August 18, 2013 at Agrace Hospice. Doug was born on July 1, 1934 in Madison, WI to James and Carrie “Claire” Douglas. He graduated from East High School in 1952. Doug served in the US Army, in the Philippines and Guam, specializing in satellite-tracking equipment repair. He worked at Wilmore TV & Appliance, Modern Specialty, and for Charlie Khuen at Modern TV. Doug was a member of the EAA for most of his life and an avid member of the NRA. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and photography. We will miss his stories.
Doug is survived by his wife, Barbara; children, Patty Murphy of Mauston, Sue (Paul) Weibel of LaCrosse, Debra Murphy of Beloit, Bill Douglas of Beloit, Bob Douglas of Madison, Brad (Sherry) Douglas of Portage, Betsy Douglas of Madison, and Brenda (Larry) Howe of Lake City, MN.; siblings, Dave Douglas of Madison, and Delia Long of Madison, and also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by sons, Richard Murphy, and James Murphy; grandson, Patrick Murphy; siblings, James “Uncle Bozo” Douglas, Nancy Hanson, and also his beloved dog, “Bear”.
A memorial visitation will be held at VFW POST 8483, 5737 County Trunk CV, Madison, WI, on Monday, August 26, 2013 from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
