In the early morning hours of Oct. 10th, 2013, our Lord and Savior wrapped His arms around our mother, Catherine Doll, to take her home. Catherine was born on July 21, 1927, in Madison, to Frank and Edith (Beyler) Statz. She married Philip J. Doll, Sr., on Nov. 27, 1948, in Madison at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Catherine was a 1945 graduate of Central High School.
After raising her 12 children, she went to work at UW Hospital in the Pediatric Eye Clinic and retired from there in 1997. All because two people fell in love, Catherine is survived by all her children, John, Connie (Neal) Bickler, Catherine (David) Williams, Philip (Janet), Amy, Candace (Stephen) Dott, Dana (Diane), Christine (Jack) Toal, David (Mary Beth), Dennis (Jill), Darlene (Tom) Brown, and Todd (Carrie). She is also survived by 40 grandchildren; and 35 great grandchildren, with many more to be expected.
Others surviving include sisters-in-law, Jane Statz and Lois Statz; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Philip on Sept. 30, 1994. Also going before her were her two sisters, Janet (George) Hank and Mary Jane Statz; five brothers, Charles (Doris), Philip, Jack (Katie), Frank and James Statz; and in-laws, Delores (Gregory) Bachhuber, Gloria (John) Holly, and Stanley (Lois) Doll.
