Carmella M. Conroy, passed away on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at her home. She was born on April 7, 1927 in Madison, the daughter of Joseph and Anna Montalto. She attended St. Joseph Grade School and graduated from Madison Central High School in 1948. She was united in marriage to William E. Conroy on September 9, 1950 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. They were blessed with a son, William V. on September 9, 1951 who passed away in March, 2001.
Carmel worked at the University of Wisconsin in the chemistry building. She was a past President of the fall Festival, East Peoria, IL and was also a member of the Jaycettes.
Carmel and Bill lived in Japan for 3 years, 1 hour from Mt. Fuji. They also enjoyed traveling throughout the US, Canada and Europe as well as many destinations in Eastern Asia, including: Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore. She also loved fishing with Bill and caught several trophy fish through the years.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Bill and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, William; her parents and many other family members.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 2450 Atwood Ave., Madison with Fr. Frank Schmidt officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass on Saturday at the church. Burial will follow at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery.
