MONONA – Cara L. Johnson, age 53, of Monona, passed away on Friday, July 25, 2014, at Agrace HospiceCare.

She was born on Dec. 3, 1960, in Madison, the daughter of Charles and Beverly (Nicks) Swope. Cara was united in marriage to David Johnson on June 14, 2003, in Monona. She graduated from Madison East High School with the class of 1979. Cara was employed at Pinnacle Pharmacy. She loved travelling, especially to Myrtle Beach. She enjoyed gardening, spending time with her family and cruising with Dave on his motorcycle.

Cara is survived by her husband, Dave; children, Ashley (Tom Riffle) Boshers and Caitlyn (Jacob) Parish; siblings, Pam (Dan) James and Denise Speaker; sister-in-law, Beth (Jay) Johnson; brother-in-law, Bob (Sally) Johnson; mother-in-law, Thelma Johnson; many nieces and nephews; grandpuppy, Ruby, and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Judy Swope, Jeff Swope and Patty Baggs; and father-in-law, Carl Johnson.

Memorial services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, July 30, 2014. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 2 p.m. until time of the service on Wednesday. Inurnment will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to UW Carbone Cancer Center. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Hegeman, Sandy and Sue from the Carbone Cancer Center for their care and compassion.
