MADISON-Betty J. Waelti, age 80, passed away Monday, July 1, 2013.

She was born on July 16, 1932, in Westfield, the daughter of the late Henry and Helen (Knapp) Marotz. On May 25, 1951, she was united in marriage to Glenn E. Waelti and he preceded her in death on June 4, 1998.

Betty worked as Court Records Clerk for Dane County for 22 years, retiring in 1990. She volunteered for McFarland Senior Center, serving in many capacities. Betty was a member of Hope Lutheran Church since 1968, taking part in women’s circle, quilting, the bazaar, and coordinating the mother-daughter luncheons. She loved gardening and was very proud of her flowers. Betty also enjoyed quilting, baking, and playing cards.

She is survived by her daughter, Helen (Ken) Abrahamson; sons, LeRoy (Angela) Waelti and Dale (Marcy) Waelti; grandchildren, Jason Olson (Sarah), Brandon (Hope), and Angela Waelti; two great-granddaughters, Jade Olson and Cambria Lee Waelti; brother, Earl Marotz; sister, Edna Henne; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her four brothers; and two sisters.

Services will be held at HOPE LUTHERAN CHURCH, 3702 County Road AB, McFarland, at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 5, 2013. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Friday.
