Armeta J. Hanson, 82, of Boscobel formerly of rural Blue River, died Monday, June 17, 2013 at Boscobel Care and Rehab.

Armeta was born at home on August 30, 1930 in Richland County the daughter of Raymond and Lola (Chitwood) Hughbanks. On May 28, 1948 she married Stanley Hanson. Armeta loved gardening, flowers, and listening to books on tape. She cared for wild kittens in the barn and stray animals that came from the woods by her home. She enjoyed watching and feeding hummingbirds every season. She was a partner in the family farm for 59 years and worked side by side with her husband. She loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and enjoyed hosting the family gatherings throughout the year.

Armeta is survived by two daughters: Sue (John) Adams of Boscobel, Julie Hanson of Orlando, Florida; son, Michael Hanson (friend Laura Wetter) of rural Blue River; six grandchildren: Kimberly (Brent) Drake of Boscobel, Rebecca Baumeister of Boscobel, Kevin (Lindy) Zart of Boscobel, Andrew Adams of Boscobel, Brian (Kelly) Hanson of LaCrosse, Jessica Hanson of Muscoda; Eleven great-grandchildren; one soon to be great-great-grandson, Carter Baumeister; sister, Janith (Bruce Grub) Engen of rural Blue River; brother, Rodney Hughbanks of Holman; niece Cherri Carr of Milwaukee, nephew, Gary Engen of Madison, other relatives, neighbors, and friends.

Armeta was preceded in death by her husband Stanley in 2007.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 24, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the Blue River United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the Greenwood Cemetery. Friends may call at the Blue River United Methodist Church on Sunday, June 23, 2013 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and again on Monday, June 24, 2013 from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at 11:00 AM.
