Ann M. Metcalf

Ann M. Metcalf, 99, who lived most of her life in Platteville, Wisconsin, died on Monday November 28, 2016 at Prairie View Assisted Living, Winnebago.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 2, 2016 at the First Congregational Church, Platteville. Rev. Zayna Thompson will officiate. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Platteville. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Friday at the church. The Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, is serving the family. Memorials may be made to the Ann M. Ann was born on May 19, 1917 in Platteville, Wisconsin, the daughter of Glen and Ruby (Barrett) Turk. Ann graduated from Platteville High School in 1934. She was united in marriage to Howard L. Metcalf on May 3, 1941. He preceded her in death in February 1999. She received her Bachelor's Degree from UW-Platteville in 1938 and her Master's Degree, also from UW-Platteville, in 1966. Ann taught high school math for many years, some of those years at Highland High School, from 1963 – 1982. She was an active member of the First Congregational Church in Platteville; where she was an officer of the Executive Board of Women's Fellowship, a member of the Pasty Committee, as well as, a representative of First Congregational Church to the Church Women United of Platteville. Ann also enjoyed sewing, playing bridge, golfing, and reading. She was also an avid fan of Wisconsin Badger basketball and football and the Green Bay Packers.

Ann is survived by her daughter, Sally (Joseph) Huggins of Winnebago, IL; two grandchildren, Paula Huggins and Ronald Huggins; one great-grandson, James Joseph "JJ" Huggins. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Thomas J. Metcalf in 1991; great-grandson, Thomas Andrew Huggins; siblings, Joseph (Helen) Turk and Janice (Maynard) Cullen; brother-in-law, Alvery (Helen) Metcalf; and sister-in-law, Marian (Delbert) Felder.
