MONONA-Ann C. Gurriell, age 92, of Monona, passed away on Monday, Aug. 11, 2014, at Waunakee Manor with her loving family by her side.
She was born in Dane, Wis., in 1921, the daughter of Mike and Rose Schmidt. She married Sidney Gurriell in 1944 at Truax Field Chapel in Madison. Ann was a loyal member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and school. She belonged to St. Anne's Society and volunteered at St. Mary's Hospital for many years. Ann was past president of the Auxillary VFW Post No. 7591.
Her hobbies were collecting bears, sewing, bowling and cooking. Ann's passions were picnicking with family and Sunday trips to Dane.
She is survived by her children, Allan (Vicki) Gurriell, Lynn (Roger) Korfmacher, Jeff Gurriell, Joan (Shorty) Fahser, Julie (Gene) Swenson and Scott Gurriell; grandchildren, Susan (Knute) Knutson, David (Jill) Korfmacher, Brian (Megan) Korfmacher, Heather, Michael (Laura Otterson) Fahser, Christopher (Lana) Fahser, Tammy Kempf, Scott (Tami) Fahser, Dan (Michelle) Fahser and Tammy Swenson; and many great and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney; parents; grandson, Gregory Gurriell; great-grandson, Zachary Fahser; two brothers; and four sisters. Funeral
Services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, at 10 a.m., on Friday, Aug. 15, 2014, with Father John Silva presiding. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday.
