Madison: Our beloved Adelheid “Heidi” Pelech, 85 of Madison, passed away on May 13, 2013 after a long illness.

Adelheid was born in Grossenhain Saxony, Germany on July 28, 1927. Heidi graduated from college in Bavaria studying hotel and restaurant management and later worked as a bookkeeper at a large hotel in Frankfurt Germany. During her time at college she met her husband of 49 years, Johann, who was an interpreter for the U.S. Army during World War II. Johann preceded Adelheid in death in 2003.

Adelheid and Johann emigrated from Frankfurt, Germany to Madison in 1957. Heidi and Johann operated several businesses in the Madison area and later owned and operated Serv U Beverage on East Washington Avenue. Heidi has been a longtime volunteer of the Lakeview Lutheran's food pantry along with Lakeview Library's Book Sales and North Eastside Senior Coalition. She was an avid knitter and gardener, preserving much of her own wonderful vegetables and fruit until very recently. She loved her home of 55 years, bird feeding and spending time with her family and neighbors.

Heidi is survived by three children, Thomas Pelech and wife Deborah of Virginia Beach Virginia, Michael Pelech and partner Joyce of Trempealeau and Dorothee Pelech of Madison; three grandchildren, Sara Matuszak and husband Trevor of Neenah, Forrest Pelech of Hortonville and David Pelech stationed with the U.S. Army in Seattle, Washington.

The family wishes to thank Meadowmere Madison Assisted Living and Senior Helpers for assisting with Mutti's health and well-being. Thank you to SouthernCare Hospice of Madison for their compassion and service during Mom's final days.

A memorial service will be held 10:30 a.m. on Saturday May 18 at LAKEVIEW LUTHERAN CHURCH CHAPEL, 4001 Mandrake Rd., Madison with Pastor Dean Kirst officiating. Her final resting place will be Lakeview Lutheran Cemetery.
