Madison-Virginia Lybek Schweiger, aged 85, passed away suddenly on January 9, 2013. She was active until her last moments. She suffered a stroke on her way with her husband Bob, to see the eagles on the Wisconsin River.

She is survived by Bob, her husband of 61 years, and her three children: Deborah (Edward) Reisner, Sandra (James) Edgerly, and Bruce (Carol) Schweiger. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Deborah’s daughters Megan (John) Koltes and Jessica Reisner; Sandra’s sons Eric (Lao) Edgerly and Adam Edgerly; and Bruce’s sons Brad (Shanda) Schweiger, Paul (Jamie) Schweiger, Scott Schweiger. Her two brothers, Robert (Rose) and Edward Lybek, Jr, and her two sisters, Frances Frosch and Grace Schlimgen also survive her. Virginia was born in Mazomanie, WI, on April 16, 1927 and grew up on the family farm near Plain with her parents, Edward and Lucy. While working at Rennebohm’s Drugstore in Madison, she met her future husband who was a pharmacist there. They were married on August 4, 1951.

Virginia and Bob were partners in many ways. For almost 30 years they operated their own store, Schweiger Drugs, in Madison and Sun Prairie with Bob filling prescriptions and Virginia doing the record keeping. She was devoted to her family, she loved to garden, and to travel around the United States and to foreign locations. Virginia was a remarkable person, a loving wife and mother, who had an active mind and a strong personality. Her death leaves a void in the family that is deeply felt by all.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am on Monday, January 14, 2013, at ST. PETER CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5001 North Sherman Ave, Madison, with Msgr. Charles Schluter officiating. Burial will follow the service at Highland Memory Gardens. A visitation will take place at the church on Monday from 9am until the time of service.
