Victor Roald Ulvestad
DANE/LODI/DEFOREST - Victor Roald Ulvestad passed away early in the morning on Sunday, February 24, 2013 with his family by his bedside. He was 97 years old and was the seventh of nine children born to Hans and Olina (Berge) Ulvestad.
Victor graduated from Lodi High School in 1933 and received a BS degree in Agriculture from UW, River Falls. He continued his love for agriculture by becoming an Agricultural high school teacher in North Dakota for a few years before he began serving our country in World War II. He served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater for four years. In his Army service, Victor received a Bronze Battle Star along with other decorations and citations.
Laura Marie Myer of Michigan was the love of his life. Victor met Laura in Cleveland, OH when he returned from the War and they later married in 1946. He continued his teaching career as an instructor with the Wisconsin Veterans Teaching Program while he also operated his farm near Dane, WI.
In 1964 he moved his family to Illinois to work for the State of Illinois Department of Employment, Agricultural Division. He and his family lived there for 15 years until he retired to live on the family farm in 1978. He spent most of the next 34 years there on the land he loved so much.

Victor was a wonderful son, brother, father, and husband. His was a life well spent, touching the lives of all people he met and setting a fine example for his children as loving father, grandfather, and husband.
He was proud of his Norwegian heritage, loved the Brewers and Packers, and had a very lively sense of humor that anyone meeting him would realize. He had one-liners that he worked on daily. He will be missed.
