COTTAGE GROVE- Thurman Dale “Terry” Hesse, age 73, passed away peacefully on Friday, Nov. 16, 2012, at Agrace HospiceCare surrounded by his family. He was born on Nov. 28, 1938, in Plymouth, the son of Leonard and Eileen (Thurman) Hesse. He married Virginia Raynoha on Sept. 5, 1959, in Madison. Terry graduated from Madison East High School in 1956. He received his B.A. in industrial education from UW-Platteville in 1962, and his master’s degree from UW-Stout in 1965. Terry then taught welding and metallurgy at MATC for more than 30 years. Terry was a life member of the American Welding Society and the district director for eight years. He served on numerous committees. Terry was a state certified welding inspector and educator. His passion was restoring cars and he was a member of the MG Club. Terry’s many hobbies included: British auto restoration, metal sculpting, canoeing, camping, traveling, and fishing. He was devoted to his wife and children, and was a great family man. Terry was also an active member of St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Virginia; children, Daniel (Cindy) Hesse, David (Debbie) Hesse, and Laura (Roy) Stine; grandchildren, Steven, Keith, and Peter Hesse, Spencer and Elizabeth Hesse, Janelle, Corbin, Jake, and Mitchell Stine, and Colin and Casey Raimer; brother, Roderick (Verda) Hesse; sister, Pauline (Emil) Paciga; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at ST. STEPHEN’S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 5700 Pheasant Hill Road, Monona, at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 19, 2012. A memorial gathering will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service on Monday. Memorials may be made to St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church. A special thank you to St. Mary’s Day Health Care Center, Willows of Sun Prairie, and Agrace HospiceCare for their compassionate care.
