DeForest – Theodore E. Snyder, age 76, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, October 12, 2016.
He was born on July 15, 1940, in Antigo, Wis., the son of Everett and Jean (Helf) Snyder. He graduated from Deerfield High School in 1959. Soon thereafter, he met Mary Thomsen, whom he married on August 18, 1962, at Plymouth Congregational Church in Madison.
Ted and Mary farmed in Cottage Grove in their early years of marriage, before moving to rural DeForest in 1968. They raised their four children on a farm on Hahn Road, where the kids were active in 4-H and FFA, as he had been in his youth. Ted has been an active member of Windsor United Church of Christ since 1968.
Since retiring from active farming, he drove for Fuchs Trucking, and enjoyed camping with Mary and friends. He took great joy in his grandchildren, especially enjoying their sporting events and showings at the county fair.
Ted is survived by his wife, Mary; children Peter (Alla) Snyder, and their children, Vitale and Zachary; Debra Gorzek and her children, Kathryn, Sarah and Andrew; Dawn (Clinton) Collins and their children Jacob, Matthew, Theadora and Luke; and Paul (Heather) Snyder, and their children Hailey, Tyler and Brett. He is further survived by his brother, Dan (Pat) Snyder, and his sister, Shirlee Snyder (Terry Schnitter).
He is preceded in death by his parents, and his infant sister, Louise.
A Funeral Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 15, 2016, at Windsor United Church of Christ, 4434 Second Street, Windsor, Wis., 53598, with Reverend David McDonald officiating. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of service.
Ted will be remembered for his kindness, compassion, and ability to make his children and grandchildren feel loved.
