MADISON-Stewart Perry Widen, age 53, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, at his home. He was born on March 26, 1959, in Madison, the son of Mark and Betty (Hinz) Widen. Stewart graduated from Monona Grove High School in 1978, and attended MATC. He worked for the family business, WIDEN Enterprises, for most of his adult life. Stewart enjoyed men’s golf league in Monona, and Duck’s Unlimited. He was the general manager of Antler’s Tavern, a chef, and an Agrace HospiceCare volunteer. Stewart participated in several mission trips with Bethel Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his three children, Benjamin Widen, Nicki Widen, and Anna Widen; siblings, Stacy Randall (Steve), Tyler (Sue) Widen, Reed (Leanne) Widen, and Price (Pam) Widen; former wife, Vicki Hudson; nieces and nephews, Justin, Andrew, and Lindsey Randall, Jenna, Jesse, Wyatt, and Whitney Widen, and Nicholas Eaton; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mark and Betty Widen.
Funeral services will be held at MESSIAH LUTHERAN CHURCH, 5202 Cottage Grove Road, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, with the Rev. Jeff Vanden Heuvel presiding. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. A time for fellowship with food will follow. Visitation will be held at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Agrace HospiceCare or American Cancer Society.
