Stanley Earl Tate, age 78, passed away on Tuesday, October 18, 2016. Stan was born on June 24, 1938 in Ringgold, Georgia to Audley and Louise Tate.
He grew up in Ringgold, GA, Blythe, CA, and Southern New Mexico. Stan joined the United States Air Force and after basic training was stationed at Truax Field in Madison, WI. In Madison is where he met the love of his life Beverly Trainor. They married on August 16, 1957. Upon discharge from the military he started his career as a mechanic which ranged from gas station attendant to owning his own motorcycle business to working for the state of Wisconsin as a maintenance mechanic. Stan was a tri-state scrambles motorcycle champion, nicknamed “Bear Claw”. Stan was an avid hunter, especially raccoon hunting. Stan was a fan and shareholder of the Green Bay Packers. He went on to also start his own delivery service called T-N-T Express, which he ran until February of 2016. He cared deeply about his family and his faith in God.
Stan is survived by his wife of 59 years, Beverly; children, Steve (Francine), Cheryl (Dave) Thompson, Stan II (Kim), Sheila (Kevin) Wiemann, and Christine; 24 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; siblings, Ruth (Jack) Kimsey, Paul, and Stephen (Lucy); sister-in-law, Pat. Further survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by son, Paul; great-granddaughter, Aurora Steinweg; siblings, John, Marshall “Jr”, Donna, Helen, and Gordon.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 2418 North Sherman Avenue, Madison. A visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until time of service on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial at Sunset Memory Gardens.
