Sam J. “Sammy” Bongiovani, age 56, passed away unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, November 29, 2016. He was born on February 4, 1960, the son of Nick and Josephine (Urso) Bongiovani. Sammy graduated from East High School in 1978 and worked very hard all of his life at a variety of jobs.

He loved music, especially guitars, riding motorcycles, hunting, fishing, gardening, pickling peppers and tomatoes and making his own beer. He was a huge animal lover and an excellent dog trainer, and a stellar cook with exceptional grilling skills.

Sammy is survived by his siblings, Jeanie Froland, Sharon (John) Hanushewicz, Nick (Vicki) Bongiovani, Anthony (Nancy) Bongiovani and Rose (David) Bongiovani; his nieces and nephews, Jamie (Justin) Adams, Alexia Bongiovani, Talia Bongiovani, Nick Hanushewicz, and Teresa (Chris) Coplan; his great-nieces and nephews, Greyson Adams, Elizabeth Golosnoy, Cole Coplan and Ella Coplan; and his four legged buddy, Max.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his niece, Sierra; and his beloved dog, Jimmy.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, December 6, 2016, at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 2418 N. Sherman Ave, Madison.
