MIDDLETON-Sally Stanek, age 79, of Middleton, passed away on Wednesday, July 25, 2012, at Agrace HospiceCare. She was born on July 17, 1933, in Portage, the daughter of Dr. Edward and Elizabeth Tierney. Sally graduated from Portage High School in 1951, and attended UW-Madison. She married Robert Stanek on May 12, 1962, in Portage. Sally worked for the Portage Clinic, was a flight attendant for Eastern Airlines, and also worked at WARF (Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation). In 1972, Sally and her husband started National C.U. Services; Sally took over after Robert passed in 1984, until the time of her retirement in 1995. She loved to travel, especially after retirement with her family and friends. Sally also enjoyed volunteering at Ronald McDonald House, Meals on Wheels, American Red Cross, and Food Banks.
She is survived by her children, Tom (Lisa Theel), Steven, Richard (Dianne Aldrich), and Ed; grandchild, Tierney; brother, Bill (Shirley) Tierney; sister-in-law, Judy Tierney; and dear family members on her husband’s side. Sally was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; daughter, Ramona; brother, Edward; and dear friend, Mary Portzen. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. DENNIS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 505 Dempsey Road, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 2, 2012, with Father Kent Schmitt presiding. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Portage. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2012, and also at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass on Thursday.
