Ruth Elaine Thureson, 62, of Janesville, passed away Sunday, September 25, 2016 at Agrace HospiceCare in Janesville.

Ruth was born on July 13, 1954 daughter of John and Elsie (Parker) Thureson.

In 1972, Ruth was involved in a car accident that left her a quadriplegic. She was cared for at home by her parents for over 25 years. She then resided in a group home with REM Wisconsin. She also resided with and was cared for by Lori and Mike Jacobson of Milton for several years while at REM. She attended day services at CESA and worked at the YWCA. She retired just over 3 years ago.

Ruth is most remembered for her strong faith in God and her unstoppable spirit. She was an inspiration and a testimony to all that knew her. Ruth, you are a bright shining star and our guardian angel. We will remember and love you forever.

Ruth is survived by her mother, Elsie J. Thureson; sister, Laurene (Les) Joseph; brothers, Fred (Sandy) Thureson and Bill Thureson; five nieces, one nephew, five great nieces and one great nephew. She was preceded in death by her father, John Irving Thureson.

Due to her mother’s health, there will be a celebration of life open house on October 22, 2016 from 1 to 4 p.m. at her sister’s home, 7542 Meander Drive, Rockford, IL 61107.
