Robert Showers, age 75 of Packwaukee, Wisconsin passed away on Thursday, December 13, 2012 at his home.
At this time there will be no services, a celebration of life will be held at a later date. Bob was born on July 24, 1937 in Cranbury, New Jersey to Everett and Mamie (Hintz) Showers. He was the owner and operator of Bob Showers Well Drilling for over 45 years in the Janesville, and Montello area. Bob enjoyed hunting and fishing and especially his yearly trips to Canada with his sons Bob Jr. and Lance. Bob also was very proud of being a US Navy Dad. He enjoyed participating in the US Navy “Tiger Cruises” with his Master Chief son, Lance and also as a proud Navy Grandpa he was thrilled with his grand-daughter, Taylor’s, recent promotions as a US Navy Seabee.
Bob was also a very proud and an active member of the Packwaukee Lions Club since 1985. He is a past District Governor of District 27-B1 and a progressive Melvin Jones Fellow who travelled the world sharing the principles of Lionism. Lion Bob was very involved with the Mission to Mexico project and lead over 50 missions to help give sight to over 150,000 less fortunate people in Mexico. Lion Bob was truly loved by the Mexican people for whom he worked and served with since 1991. Lion Bob recently received a letter from one of the Mexican Lions Club members daughters expressing her deep appreciation and desire to help Lion Bob in his time of need that she offered him one of her kidneys when his had failed, so that he could continue with his passion to serve the Mexican people.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Bob’s names to the “27-B1 Mission to Mexico Fund” to insure that his passion continues to help serve those in need.
He will be deeply missed by his family and friends around the world.
A special thanks and appreciation to our grand-daughter, Cheyene for without her compassion and generous support of Grandma, Jeri, the opportunity to spend the last four months at home with Grandpa Bob would not have been possible. Also thank you to nurses Amanda and Sara, and the staff at Southern Care for their assistance and support.
