Robert A. Bestor

WAUNAKEE / MADISON-Robert A. Bestor, age 86, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012, at the Veteran’s Hospital after a long illness. He was born on May 14, 1926, in Madison, the son of Alva and Grace Bestor. Robert graduated from East High School in 1944. He served in the U.S. Army in Germany as a motor pool mechanic. Robert then worked for Hults Chevrolet as a mechanic, and later drove semi for Robertson Transportation Co., retiring from Briggs Transportation Co.

He is survived by his longtime companion, June Hoffman; daughter, Beverly James; son, Robert L. Bestor; three grandchildren, Jeffrey (Sherry) Hackbart, Gregory (Valerie) Hackbart, and Valerie Bestor; four great-grandchildren, Cassandra, Jackson, Benjamin, and Allison Hackbart; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Ruth Dodge and Verna Kretschmer; ex-wife, Gunderson_Funeral Helen Ross; and son-in-law, Dave E. James.

Private family services will be held.
