MADISON-Raymond Lester Jones, age 90, of Madison, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, at Oak Park Place. He was born on December 17, 1921, in Dodgeville, the son of Leslie and Anna Lee (Hendrickson) Jones. Raymond married Vada Booth on May 15, 1946, in Madison at Trousdale Methodist Church. Ray graduated from Madison East in 1939. After graduation, he worked for Richard Ela Company for 48 years retiring in 1987. He was a WWII U.S. Army veteran and served in Italy as platoon leader in the 91st Infantry. Ray was a past Exalted Ruler, past secretary, and lifetime member of the Elks Lodge #410. He was a member of Lakeview Moravian Community Church since 1954. He was also a Madison Area Purchasing Association (MAPA) charter and lifetime member.

Ray is survived by his wife of 66 years, Vada; daughter, Jacquelyn (William) Carey; and granddaughter, Joy Forer. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Karl Jones, sisters, Ferne Alter, Mildred Nelson, and Dorothy Mehltretter; and brother, Spencer Jones.

Funeral services for Ray will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012, with the Rev. Staci Marrese-Wheeler. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 am. until the time of service on Thursday. Memorials may be directed to Lakeview Moravian Community Church or the Madison Elks Lodge charities. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff at Oak Park Place.
