MADISON-Patricia (Pat) Ann Kleinschmidt died peacefully in her sleep at Oak Park Place on Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012 after a long battle with the effects of dementia. She has been reunited with her husband of 58 years, Audrey Kleinschmidt. They were both long-time residents of Monona.

She was born on March 18, 1927 in Watertown. Her parents were Charles Langer and Ann Martha Langer (nee Klecker). She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Roger and her brother-in-law Ken Kleinschmidt.

She is survived by four children, James (Linda), Ann (Lee Coates), Mark, and Lucy Korbitz (Eric); two grandchildren, William Korbitz and Kathryn Korbitz; a sister, Charlotte Kleinschmidt; four nieces, Theresa Jansen (Greg), Mary Hilden (Dick), Evie Meuret, Kate Thome (Randy); a nephew, Fred Kleinschmidt (Colleen); seven grand nieces; three grand nephews; three great-grand nephews; and one great-grand niece.

Pat was a dedicated mother, great cook who learned her craft cooking and baking on a wood stove, and a dedicated volunteer for many organizations including Immaculate Heart of Mary, the Red Cross, the Monona Garden Club, and the Madison Catholic Women’s Club and St. Mary’s Hospital Auxiliary. She provided more than 10,000 hours of service over a period of 39 years for the Auxiliary. She especially enjoyed making the flowers for which the Auxiliary is famous. Pat always expressed an interest in nursing and working for the Auxiliary provided her a way to fulfill her need to provide comfort and care to others. Pat also participated in the efforts for World War II working at RMR which was a precursor of Ray-o-Vac. Prior to her marriage with Audrey she also helped run the family farm with her parents and Brother Roger.

The family would like to say special thanks to the staff of Oak Park Place who became both Patricia’s and Audrey’s adopted family, and to all of the staff of Agrace Hospice who provided great comfort to Pat as she passed from this world into the next. We will be forever grateful to the dedicated people who provided care to both Pat and Audrey. They truly do God’s work here on earth.
