MADISON-Maureen Horan, age 74, of Madison, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Friday, March 8, 2013, at Meriter Hospital, after a long battle with various health issues. She was born on Aug. 3, 1938, in Milwaukee. Maureen married Richard Horan on May 8, 1993, in Madison.
She studied child psychology at MATC. Maureen worked at the Adult Daycare Center and Alzheimer’s Unit for 17 years. She loved the month of March, as she was very proud of her Irish heritage.
Maureen enjoyed baking, traveling, garage sales and was an avid reader. She was known to be a tough cookie and always ready to enjoy a cold one. Maureen will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her husband of 20 years, Richard; son, Mark Wrzesinske; daughter, Jolene (Brian) Burkeland; stepchildren, Cheryl Fewlass, Sheila (Jack) Franz, and James (Kelly) Horan; grandchildren, Jordana Burkeland, Brian and Darius Fewlass, Ryne, Joshua, and Zachary Franz, Adam, Joey, and Libby Horan; sister, Kathy (Carl) Williamson, various other relatives and friends; and her cherished cat, Kaitlyn.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Deborah Ann Wrzensinske; her parents; sisters Celine Kanellos and Patricia Everman.
Funeral services will be held at OUR LADY QUEEN OF PEACE, 401 S. Owen Drive, Madison, at 12 Noon on Thursday, March 14, 2013, with Monsignor Kenneth Fiedler presiding.
Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 13, 2013, and also at the church from 11 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday.
