Mary E. Boettcher, age 64, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Thur. Nov. 24, 2016.

She was born in Dodgeville, WI. on Dec. 16, 1951 to the late Clarence and Margaret (Lynch) Gorman.

After her birth, Mary’s mother Margaret passed away, and Mary was raised by her aunt Alice Gorman. She graduated River Valley High School; class of 1969. Mary was united in marriage to Gerald V. Boettcher at St. John’s in Spring Green on Nov. 6, 1971. She worked for Sauk Prairie Schools for 28 years; retiring in June of 2016. Mary was an active member of St. Luke’s in Plain and the Honey Creek Road and Gun Club and could often be found preparing and cooking at the events. She enjoyed the Packers, NASCAR, bird watching (especially cardinals), flowers, her garden and canning vegetables. Mary enjoyed family events, but, was especially proud and supportive of her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry of Blackhawk; a son Allen (Justina Johnson) Boettcher of Plain; her grandchildren, Gunner, Hailee and Nicolas Boettcher; and her step-grandchildren, Ivan and Oscar Johnson; her siblings, Jim (Judy), Dave (Dorothy), and Pat Gorman; she is further survived by other relatives and many friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son Joe; brother, Tom Gorman; and sister in-law, Shirley Gorman.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Fri. Dec.2, 2016 at 11:00 am at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Plain. Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Thur. Dec. 1 at Hooverson Funeral Home, Sauk City and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow in the Sauk City Cemetery.
