Lydia (Tialdo Mandracchia) Cameron
MADISON-Lydia (Tialdo Mandracchia) Cameron, age 90, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012, at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg. She was born on Oct. 25, 1922, in New York City, the youngest of 11 children to Vincente and Josephine Mandracchia who had moved to the United States from Sicily. Her mother passed away when Lydia was six years old and she, along with two siblings, lived in a children’s home in upstate New York until the age of 15. Lydia met and married Charles Allen Leroy Cameron in Fort Wayne, Ind., in 1946, moved to Illinois, and later moved to California where they raised their family. Lydia was a hard working woman who was employed outside her home most of her adult life. She had a great sense of humor and was an avid and competitive game player who loved jigsaw and crossword puzzles. Lydia loved singing and was, in fact, singing with her sisters in church when she met her husband. She moved to Madison in August, 1995, where she formed many friendships and was greatly loved. Lydia loved old hymns and her many friends at Faith Community Bible Church. Her heart to serve others will be missed by all.
Lydia is survived by her three children, Barbara Jean (Michael) Moore of Madison, Charles Allen Cameron of Madison, and Beverly Ann (John) Bennett of Charleston, S.C.; four grandchildren, Cindy (James) Samuelson of Mesa, Ariz., Kristin (James) Jensen of San Antonio, Texas, Jeremy Phillips of Charleston, S.C., and Christopher Phillips of Huntington Beach, Calif., as well as five great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at FAITH COMMUNITY BIBLE CHURCH, 3 N. Park St., Madison, 53715, at 10 a.m., on Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012. Visitation will be held at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Faith Community Bible Church.
Lydia’s family wishes to thank the staff and volunteers at Agrace HospiceCare, St. Mary’s Hospital, Four Winds Nursing Home, and Willow Point Assisted Living for the great care and compassion shown to Lydia and her family. Lydia is now home in heaven with her Lord Jesus and family and loved ones who have gone before her.
