MADISON -Lorraine F. Hosking, age 85, passed away quietly and eloquently on Nov. 17, 2012, with her family by her side. Lorraine was born Oct. 13, 1927, in St. Joe, the daughter of Louis and Edna(Carey) Holzman, who have both preceded her in death. Lorraine married Luverne(Hap) Hosking on Jan. 31, 1948, in Fond du Lac. He preceded her in death in 1981. She graduated from Fond du Lac Senior High School in 1945. She was formerly employed with the United States Treasury Dept., Merchandise Mart, Chicago, Ill., the Giddings & Lewis Mach. Tool Co, Fond du Lac. The Norsman,Erickson Interview Service, Madison, and was owner of The Crock Pot, Atlas Ave, which is now named The Cottage Cafe. Lorraine is survived by a daughter Barbara (David) Deters, Kissimmee, FL; three sons:Mark(Nancy), Washington, MI; Jeffery(Deborah), Madison; Brian, Las Vegas, NV. She is survived by six grandchildren, Heather, Leanne, Andrew, Maxwell Hosking, Kristin(Mark) Dalessandro, and Kelly(Scot) Anderson.
She is also survived by step-granddaughter Melissa Hamm, step great-granddaughter Hannah Dalesaandro; two step-great grandsons, Alex and Max Hamm; and GG to great-grandson, Connor Anderson. She is also survived by brother Louis Holzman; and sister-in-law Phyllis Hosking(Dick King). She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and in-laws; her sisters. Anna Marie McIntosh and Joyce(at birth); and granddaughter, Kerri Braun.
Lorraine was a member of St.Dennis Church. She was a member and past president of the Monona Area Women's Club, a long time member of the Four Lakes Yacht Club, where she was past president of the the First Mates Club. She is a member of the Grieg Club, where she enjoyed playing cards with all of her many friends. She was very proud of her four children and all of her grandchildren. Special thanks to the medical staff, caregivers, and Dr. Kamnetz at Meriter Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Monday and also from 10 a.m. until time of the service on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested in her name.
