Leta M. Pearce, age 61, of Prairie du Sac, died of cardiac arrest at home, Friday, October 26, 2012. She was born August 21, 1951, in Roxbury, WI. Graduated from St. Norbert’s grade school, Sauk Prairie High School and UW Madison where she received a Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
Leta joined the Air Force in 1975. On April 30, 1977 she and Captain Douglas Pearce were married in New Mexico. They were transferred to England. During an Air Force maneuver Doug died when his American F-111 fighter-bomber crashed into the North Sea. Leta and Doug had two years of wedded bliss. After Doug’s death, Captain Leta moved back to the states and retired from the Air Force.
Leta worked as a RN and she was available to the family in their times of medical needs. She was a member of the Military Officers Association of America. She was a Partylite consultant and a Jafra consultant for thirty years. Her artistic talent was displayed in her needlework. She appreciated art and blues music, especially that of B.B. King. Leta enjoyed taking care of her wide variety of plants.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Mabel Ballweg, her sister Ruth Hellenbrand, and brother Mark Ballweg. She is survived by her brothers, Wayne (June) Ballweg, Arden (Jean) Ballweg, and Bennett (Pat) Ballweg, her sisters, Shirley (Bob) Boehnen, Sister Joyce Ballweg, Ella (Ron) Roth, Faye (Steve) Endres, Julie (Dennis) Crawford, brother-in-law Wally Hellenbrand, her mother-in-law Effie Pearce, two sisters-in-law, Carolyn Starling, Deborah (Fred) Poindexter, her aunts, Sister Agnes Ballweg, Esther Dean, Florence Ballweg, and her uncle, James Hepola.
Leta’s “children” are her nieces and nephews. Brenda Parrell, Bernice (Mike) Lamberty, Beverly (Dave) Bradley, Brian (Tammy) Boehnen and Bruce (Deb) Boehnen, Helen (Cliff) Koronka, Chris (Dan) Christensen, Darin (Tricia) Ballweg, David (Jessica) Ballweg, Marty Hellenbrand, Mike Hellenbrand, Nancy (Cor) Zethof, Pam (Barry) Roberts, Lucy (Cory) Kubly, Karie Ramsey, Ryan (Jen) Roth, Linda (Roy) Hacker, Nick (Brenda) Endres, Steve (Andrea) Endres, Marsha (Mike) Brown, Matt (Lola) Ballweg, Lori Jo (Toby) Hellenbrand, Wesley (Angie) Crawford, Jennifer (Todd) Lynch, Nicole (Nick) Felder, Jacob (Betty) Ballweg, Beth Ballweg, Rachel (Ryan) Rutledge, Emily Ballweg, Grace Ballweg, Chan Halef, Chance Starling, Erik Poindexter, Clif Poindexter, Kyle Poindexter, many great nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, November 3rd, 2012 at 12:00 PM at St. Norbert’s Catholic Church, Roxbury, Cty. Hwy Y. A visitation will be held in the church basement 10:00 AM till the time of the service. You are welcome to come and express your sympathy, share time, and memories with Leta’s family and friends.
Memorials can be made to the wishes of the family or to a charity of your choice.
Military rights will be provided by Sauk Prairie VFW Post 7694 following the memorial mass.
