MADISON – Judith (Judy) Lakin, age 67, passed away peacefully on Nov. 23, 2012, surrounded by her loving daughters after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s Disease at Trinity Senior Community.
Judy was born on November 6, 1945, in La Crosse, WI., the daughter of Gregory and Esther (Bedessem) Reget. Judy graduated from La Crosse Aquinas High School in 1963. She retired from Central Wisconsin Center after 39 years of service. Judy loved singing and sang with the MATC Community Show Choir for many years; she was even lucky enough to travel with the group to Italy to sing for the pope. Judy also enjoyed quilting. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family, friends, and especially her grandchildren.
Judy is survived by her children, Peter Lakin of River Falls, Julie (Dan) Brazee of Verona, Andrea (Chris) Malchow of Madison, Lindsay (Dan) Schuster of Marshall; grandchildren; Michael & Christine Lakin of River Falls, Kevin & Kyle Brazee of Verona, Christopher & Ryan Malchow of Madison, Jack & Wyatt Schuster of Marshall; brother, John (Jane) Reget of La Crosse; sisters, Mary (Roy) Drake of Viroqua, Ellyn Lee of La Crosse, Sue Reget of Madison, Jeanne (Tom) Baures of La Crescent, MN, and special brother-in-law, Richard Weisbecker of La Crosse. She is further survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Judy was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers Henry (Judy) Reget, David Reget; her sisters Sandy (Jerry) Holter, Elaine Weisbecker; and granddaughter Lexi Malchow.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Agrace Hospice Care or The Alzheimer’s Association. A special thank-you to the staff at Avalon, Trinity Senior Community, Dr. Sheehy, Dr. Queoff, and the “Emerald team” from Agrace Hospice, especially Kelly Clark, Amber Ramey, and Jenny Hammond.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, with visitation on Tuesday, November 27, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home, and also from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday. Burial will follow at RESURRECTION CEMETERY.
