Ridgeway - John Martin Yager, age 82, of Ridgeway, died on Thursday, April 18, 2013 peacefully at his home.
John was born on August 23 1930 to Marcellus and Pearl (Foss) Yager in Dodgeville. He was in the Marines until 1951 then worked at Oscar Mayer until 1959. On May 9, 1959, John married Judith Ann Reis of Madison at the St. Bernard Church in Madison.
John farmed in Ridgeway until March of 1982. Then he worked for Danny WIlliams farm, The House on the Rock and Lands’ Ends until retirement.
John is survived by his wife, Judy, of Ridgeway; his children, Teresa (John) Juras, of Mount Horeb, Debra Schwoerer (Dan Festge), of Pardeeville, Lisa “Scruffy” Wendling, of Ridgeway, John (Lisa) Yager, of Madison, Cathy Yager (Jeff Kast), of Mineral Point; 10 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild. He is further survived by his former sons-in-law, Harold Schwoerer and Ron Wendling; his three sisters-in-law, Kay Stoddard, Patricia Reis and Dugney Prazak; his former brother-in-law, Richard Stoddard; his former sister-in-law, Sharon Prazak; his half brother, AJ “Cookie” (Jeb) Prazak; and many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws, Gerald and Irene Reis, his brother, Marvin Yager, his half brother, Bill Prazak and his brother-in-law, Tom Reis.
John will be cremated. There will be no services per John’s request.
