MARSHALL—John C. Bornitzke age 56 passed away unexpectedly and peacefully in his sleep on Friday, April 5, 2013 at his home. He was born on October 4, 1956 in Columbus to Duane and Eleanor (Huebner) Bornitzke. John was a 1975 graduate of Marshall High School. He served in the US Marines for six years. John was married to his high school sweetheart, Marie Taylor on May 8, 1976 in Columbus. He farmed in the Town of York where he was a town supervisor. John was a Marshall EMS Commission Chair, and also a Medina Mutual Insurance agent and board member. John enjoyed hunting, fishing and all sports, especially The Packers. He was an active member of the Olivet Congregational Church in Columbus. He treasured the time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren, for they held a special place in his heart.
Survivors include his wife, Marie of Marshall; two daughters, Jennifer (Matthew) Crowell of McFarland and Beth (Anthony) Hellpap of Marshall; his five beloved grandchildren, Draven, Morgan, Ashe, Ellie, Mia; his mother, “Sally” Bornitzke of Marshall; two brothers, Jeff of Marshall and Joel (fiancee Kathryn Gilbertson) of Madison; many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends and neighbors. He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents; father, Duane Bornitzke; sister-in-law, Terri Jacob.
Funeral services will be held at 7:00 P.M., with visitation beginning at 4:00 P.M. on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at the OLIVET CONGREGATIONAL UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST, Columbus. Pastor Lee Zortman will officiate. A private inurnment will be in the Medina Cemetery, Marshall with full military honors. Memorials may be directed to the Olivet Church.
