Howard Russell Niles, 96 of Sauk City formerly of Mauston passed away Friday, January 11, 2012 at Maplewood of Sauk Prairie Nursing Home.

Howard was born on July 30, 1916 in Mauston the son of Milo E. and Ella (Russell) Niles. He was united in marriage to Marjorie Eldred on July 30, 1837 at the First Baptist Church, Mauston.

Howard is survived by his children Betty (Buddy) Williams of Wichita Falls, Texas, Everett (Juanita) of Prairie du Sac, Evelyn (Gerald) Ehlenfeldt of Monona, Stephen (Connie) of Waukesha, 12 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 6 great great granchildren, a brother Harold Niles of La Crosse, and nieces Cheri and Nana.

He was preceded in death by his wife Marjorie, parents, a grandchild, nieces and nephews, a daughter-in-law and a sister-in-law.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday January 15, 2013 at the Crandall Funeral Home, Mauston where friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until time of services. Pastor Dan Lindsey will officiate.

Burial will be at the Mauston Cemetery. The family wishes to thank Maplewood Nursing Home’s staff for all the care they gave to Howard and Marjorie during their stay.
