Hal Veldman, age 80 of DePere, Wisconsin passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at Bellin Hospital in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 1, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at the Oxford Seventh Day Adventist Church in Oxford with Pastor William Ochs officiating. Burial will be at the Oxford Village Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 1 P.M. until the time of service at 2 P.M. Military rites will be provided by the Neenah Valley Memorial VFW Post 6003 of Oxford.
Hal was born June 3, 1931 in Summit, Illinois the son of Herman and Vida (Hewitt) Veldman. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp from January of 1952 and was honorably discharged in December of 1953 after being stationed in Korea. In July of 1955 he married Phyllis Labrenz in Oxford. He worked at Electro Motive in LaGrange, Illinois; attended Emmanuel Missionary College from 1955 to 1959 receiving a degree in business administration; worked at Bethel Convalescent Home near Arpin, Wisconsin from 1959 to 1963; worked at Utility Clearing Service in Appleton, Wisconsin from 1963 to 1967; worked at Azco, Inc. in Appleton from 1967 to 1971; worked for J&R General Tire in Appleton from 1971 to 1979; and last worked at Appleton Structural Steel from 1979 until they closed in 1993 and retired after many years as an accountant.
Hal is survived by his wife, Phyllis; a son, Jeffrey (Carrie) Veldman of Portage, Wisconsin; daughters, Sandra (Harold) Paulsen and Colleen Veldman both of DePere; grandchildren, LeeAnn (Josh) McCoy and Michelle Paulsen; and a sister, Phyllis Corssen of Danville, Illinois. Hal was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Herman, Jr., Norbert and Theodore.
