JANESVILLE ---Grace McKuen, age 87, of Janesville, died Saturday at St. Elizabeth Nursing Home. She was born in Wittenberg, WI, on Feb. 20, 1926, the daughter of Nicholas and Catherine (Werowinski) Firkus. Grace married James C. McKuen at St. Mary's Catholic Church on May 27, 1950. He preceded her in death on Jan. 21, 1998. She was a charter member of St. William Catholic Church.

She is survived by her 5 children: Charles (Sandy) McKuen of Milton, Sandra (Jeff) Knopes of Janesville, Kim (John) Melaas of Janesville, Jay (Craig) Kjendle of Milton and Mary (Kurt) Ackerman of Fort Wayne, IN; 13 grandchildren: Janet (Mark) Farrar, Cathy (Dan) Oshel, Andy (Valerie) McKuen, Jamie (Brandon) Bengtson, Amy (Brian) Schulz, Jessica (John) Mock, Annie (Kyle Hanson) Melaas, Jacob Melaas, Jonathon (Jessica) Kjendle, Jennifer Kjendle, Nicholas, Patrick and Grace Ann Ackerman; 7 great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Mary Firkus of Weston; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers and sisters.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 21, 2013, at ST. WILLIAM CATHOLIC CHURCH with Fr. John Auby officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Wednesday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at ST. WILLIAM CATHOLIC CHURCH. The family is being assisted by the SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME and CREMATORY.
