Grace Luke, age 95 of Madison, Wisconsin, formerly of Lake Delton, Wisconsin passed away peacefully Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at the Karmenta Center Nursing Home in Madison.
Funeral services will be held Monday, February 11, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at the Dells Delton United Methodist Church in Wisconsin Dells with Reverend Steven A. Miller officiating. Burial will be at the Lake Delton Village Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 10 A.M. until the time of service at 11 A.M.
Grace was born May 17, 1917 in Oak Park, Illinois the daughter of George and Luella Hemingway. She grew up in Oak Park, later moved to Lyons, Wisconsin and she met Vernett “Het” Luke. They married in 1940 and moved to Lake Delton where they farmed. Het preceded her in death in 1977. Grace worked as a cook and waitress in the Dells area for many years. She was a hard working woman and was able to make clothing for herself and family, she loved gardening and raised flowers and vegetables, enjoyed craftwork, and she was an excellent cook. In the Dells she belonged to the Women’s Club and was a former president, and was a member of the Senior Citizens Club.
Grace is survived by a son, Steven Luke of Lake Delton; a daughter, Arleen Luke of Madison; a grandson, Jeff (Gina) Beck of Waunakee, Wisconsin; great grandchildren, Ryan and Thomas Beck; and special nieces, Beverly (Wayne), Donna and Barb. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, “Het”; a brother, Reed; and sisters, Betty, Luella and Georgette.
