Gordon W. Anderson, 87, of Richland Center died Sunday, April 7, 2013 at Pine Valley Healthcare.

He was born November 17, 1925 in Ithaca the son of Lester and Florence (Hosfeld) Anderson. Gordon was a veteran of World War II serving as an Expert Rifle Technician Corporal from August 1944 to March 1946 in the United States Army, 3rd Armored Division, C Company, 2nd Platoon. He fought in the European campaign, where he received a Purple Heart, as well as several campaign medals. Gordon married Mildred Gernie, she preceded him in death. He married Jean Koch-Olson in 1997. Gordon was a lifelong farmer on the family farm in Ithaca and also retired from a career as a welder at Oscar Mayers in Madison, before moving to Richland Center. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed hunting, and spending time with friends and family.

Gordon is survived by his wife, Jean Anderson; sons: Edward (Toni) Anderson and Robert (Eloise) Anderson; grandchildren: Rosemarie Anderson, Jason (Amanda) Anderson, Michael (Becky) Anderson, Katrina Timmons, and Daniel Anderson; Jean’s son, Mark Olson; five step-grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; other relatives, and friends.

Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Mildred (Grenie), son James G. Anderson, grandson, James K. Anderson, great-grandson Jake Timmons, sister and brother-in-law, Marie and Lyle Gray.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the Five Points Lutheran Church with Reverend Larry Engel officiating. Burial will follow in the Richland Center Cemetery where Military Graveside Rites will be conducted by the Local Military Memorial Honors Unit. Friends may call at the Five Points Lutheran Church on Thursday, April 11, 2013 from 9:30 AM until the time of the service at 11:00 AM.
