Gerald Alvar Olson

Janesville -Gerald Alvar Olson, age 70, passed away Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at his home in Janesville following an illness. He was born December 17, 1941 in Mason City, IA to Alvar and Ruth (Platts) Olson.

Gerald served in the United States Army for three years. He married Charleen Hunt on August 21, 1993 in Janesville, WI. Gerald worked in mechanical and electrical design for many years before retiring and driving school bus for Van Galder Bus Company in Janesville. Gerald was a member of the Moose Lodge in Janesville; Gerald will be fondly remembered as an avid euchre player. He also enjoyed watching sports and racing.

Gerald is survived by his wife of 19 years Charleen Joyce Olson two sons, Scott (Nova) Olson, Fort Worth, TX; Steven (Crystal) Olson, of Marion, IA; two daughters, Cynthia Bean, of Denver ,CO; Susan Olson – Whittle, of Mason City, IA; four step – sons Jeffrey A. (Cariena) Hunt, of Janesville, WI; Jerome (Collette) Hunt, of Janesville, WI; Joel A.(Pennie) Hunt, of Milton, WI; Kevin L.(Kris) Hunt, of Edgerton, WI; one sister Barbara Jean Query, of Mason City, IA; several grandchildren and great – grandchildren, one aunt Marge Larson, of rural IA;

He is preceded in death by his parents.

A Funeral service will be held at 1:30 P.M., Sunday, October 14, 2012 at All Faiths Funeral Chapel 1618 E. Racine St. Janesville. A visitation will be held from 11:30 until the time of service at All Faiths Funeral Home. Entombment will take place at Milton Lawns Memorial Park in Janesville.
