She was born in Madison on September 29, 1941, the daughter of Kenneth Edward "Sparky" and Vivian Marie (Hiller) Godding. Gail was a 1960 graduate of Janesville High School and attended the former Whitewater State Teacher's College. She married her high school sweetheart, Bernard A. Mom's note to her children: My love for you my children; Kipley, Tenya and Ayrand and my grandchildren: Zachary, Elizabeth, Madeleine, Alexander, Andrew, William and Olivia, is immeasurable. There are no words to express that love. As Dad said before he passed away, he would be watching us from above. Now, we will be watching you from above with all our love. –Mom
