MADISON -Fred “Jerry” Boss, age 76, of Madison, passed away on Friday, Aug. 3, 2012, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison. He was born on March 5, 1936, in Charlevoix, Mich., the son of Fred and Anna Boss. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1954 to 1957. He enjoyed 46 years working in the retail tire industry. Jerry devoted many proud years coaching and sponsoring Little League Baseball. He also enjoyed traveling and camping in his motor home.
The loves of Jerry’s life were Arlene, his wife of 54 years; and his beloved family. Survivors include his wife, Arlene; his children, Edward (Gayla) Boss of Houston, Texas, Julie (Kurt) Hessler, of Crystal Lake, Ill., Jay (Becky) Boss of Delavan; and grandchildren, Bradley Hessler, Jessica Hessler, Lindsey (Luke) Carroll, Ryan Boss, and Brooke Boss. Jerry is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and a sister.
Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 2 p.m. on Thursday, August 9, 2012. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until time of the service on Thursday. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens with Military Rites being conducted. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations made to St. Mary’s Foundation, 700 South Park, Madison, WI 53715.
